This baby hammock is internationally safety tested, easy to use and does what any new parent needs - to settle and calm your baby - helping him or her to "sleep like a baby".

By taking centuries-old techniques, combined with modern designs, the Miyo Baby Hammock mimics the environment of the womb to help the baby feel safe, relaxed and so able to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Some of the amazing features of the Miyo Baby Hammock:

Perfect for day and night time sleeping.

All the fabrics are made of 100% cotton. The mattress outer is made of wool. Inside the mattress it is a synthetic polyfill, which has been selected as it is soft, does not compact, it is easy to wash and dry and is aerated so is breathable for your baby.

The Miyo Baby Hammock is available in white or stone and optional extras include a wooden stand, door clamp / travel adaptor, spare mattress, and twin sheet set.

How does the Miyo Baby Hammock help establish good sleeping patterns for your baby and teach them to fall asleep by themselves?

'Self-soothing' simply means the baby learns that they can relax themselves and fall asleep without having to be rocked asleep. The hammock helps babies to do this as when there is any movement by the baby, the Miyo Hammock spring translates this into a gentle rocking motion, and so to sleep baby goes. When babies wake during the night they don't tend to go from a deep sleep to screaming in a second, it is a slower process. Again, a slightly awake baby will move, this rocks the hammock, putting them back to sleep before they start crying. The baby learns that sleep comes easily and just as importantly they do not become dependent upon somebody picking them up to cuddle them as this in itself is a reward for waking up and screaming.

This is the very first step in establishing good sleeping patterns and is the basis for why over 80% of babies using the Miyo Baby Hammock were reported to be sleeping through the night by 4 months old.

Up to what age can our baby use the hammock?

From newborn up to 9 months of age for both day and night sleeps which means they will move straight into a cot so no other bed is needed. If you use the travel adaptor you don't even need a travel cot.

Although an older baby can fit in the hammock, the spine starts to strengthen at 9 - 10 months and research shows that for optimal spinal development they should be sleeping on a flat surface from this age.  Once baby can sit up by themselves, for safety reasons, they should no longer use the hammock.

The maximum recommended weight for use of the baby hammock is 15kg, however it has been tested for up to 125kg.

How is the babies spine supported in the Miyo Baby Hammock?

It is very important for babies spines to be held correctly in a flat and neutral position. The Miyo Baby Hammock is designed to ensure exactly this and has been confirmed by paediatric doctors, chiropractors and midwives.

Can a baby fall out of the Miyo Baby Hammock?

The hammock is designed to keep your baby very safe and secure. The way they lie in the hammock means that whilst they have free movement of their arms and legs it is nearly impossible to roll onto their front, let alone crawl out. A good way to understand this is to imagine how difficult it is for an adult to sit up in a hammock!

Can I wash the Miyo Baby Hammock?

Use mild natural soap solution on a dry soft cloth to clean all parts. Wipe away any moisture with a dry soft cloth.  Please also check care labels and instruction booklet.

How does the travel adapter / door clamp work and is it safe?

The adaptor rests over the top of a door frame. It is cleverly designed so that the greater the weight pulling down on it, the stronger it grips. They are fully safety tested for strength and include a door stopper to keep the door open. The combined weight of the travel adaptor and hammock is less than 6 lbs meaning it is one of the lightest and most compact travel cots available. Even more importantly, it means that your baby has their own bed that they know and love whether you are at a friend's house, grandparent's house or on holiday somewhere.

How much space does the Miyo Wooden Stand need?

If you can fit a cot in the room, you can fit the frame. The three legs of the frame means it is very easy to position in a room and fits beautifully into a corner. The curved wooden sections of the frame lie next to each other when taken down which allows it to be stored easily. Many people take the frame when they travel as it fits easily into a suitcase.

If you need a space saving solution, then installing professionally-fitted hooks into ceiling joists allows you to suspend the hammock anywhere you like using the included chain.

Is the Miyo Hammock covered by a warranty?

The distributors have a 24 month warranty on all parts, excluding the mattress.  If you purchased the Baby Hammock from Swish Lily and require further information please contact us.

How do I install the Baby Hammock?

1.  Remove all parts from plastic protector bags.  Keep all plastic away from children.  Check that all parts are included.  1 x Miyo Baby Hammock; 1 x Mattress (beige colour); 1 x Wood Separator; 1 x Spring; 1 x Spring Clip; 1 x Chain; 2 x Hooks

2.  Using a 6mm drill bit, drill hole into ceiling joists (solid timber ceiling frame not ceiling lining eg. plasterboard).  Screw hooks into hole ensuring whole length of screw thread is in timber.  PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE HAMMOCK IS DRILLED INTO CEILING JOISTS.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN BODILY HARM.

3.  Make sure there is a spring clip at both ends of the spring. Ensure that both spring clips are attached to each end of the nylon strap and spring.

4.  Hang chain from hook using the chain to adjust the height to your needs.

5.  Once chain, spring and spring clip are hanging, take body of hammock and hang the snaps facing you. Clip the spring clip onto circle ring of the hammock.

6.  Place mattress into body of the hammock. Ensure that the tip of mattress is placed by top seam, inside the body of the hammock.

7.  Place wood separator about 14 inches (35cm) from the circle ring and the top edge of the hammock until all of the material fits snugly into each groove.

Slide the wood up or down and straighten mattress are confident that the hammock is stable and straight.

Placing baby into hammock:  Hold baby safely with one arm, either close to your side or on your hip. With the other arm keep hammock steady. Place baby into hammock ensuring that baby's head is up as far as possible to the top of the mattress. Baby's feet should be at the snap end of the mattress.

Make sure baby is lying straight in hammock. You may need to adjust wood separator and mattress until it is straight.

Once baby is comfortable and blankets (if required), are placed, then fasten snaps.
